Edgar E. McCoy was born April 7, 1927 in Lawrence, IN and died at home on March 30, 2017, just one week before his 90th birthday.

He was a graduate and letterman athlete at LCHS, then served two years in the US Navy, stationed at Pensacola, FL.

He married Norma McDaniel on May 5th, 1946. They made their lifelong residence in Lawrence. He worked at IPALCO for 39 years, retiring in 1989.

Ed enjoyed many hobbies through the years such as golf, card-playing and home improvements on their five-acre property, including a 19-stall horse barn he built in the 1970’s. His true passion was gardening and he was well-known for plentiful and delicious vegetables, shared with loved ones and sold at a very reasonable price to neighbors.

He is survived by his wife, Norma, daughter Karen who served as his in-home caregiver the last five years, son Gary, daughter Ginger and her husband Joe Noble of Norman, OK, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren with one more on the way, and several nephews and nieces who are so supportive and helpful.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 4, 2017 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Indiana Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Rd, Indianapolis. Funeral and military services will be held Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Indiana Funeral Care.
